The Jaguar E-Type is one of those cars that carries a reputation almost larger than the car itself. Launched in the early 1960s, it was fast, elegant and technically advanced for its time, with styling that still stops people in their tracks. But behind all the praise and history, it is still a mechanical classic that needs proper understanding if it is going to drive as well as it looks.
