Classic Car Events: What’s Coming Up at the End of August

There are plenty of classic car events throughout August, some big, some small. If you love your vintage vehicles and want to get out and about and meet other fans, then it’s worth looking locally to see what’s happening.

To get you started, we’ve done a bit of research at White’s Bodyworks, and we’ve come up with just a few events we’ll definitely be trying to attend.

The Brighton Run

  • Where: Brighton Marina
  • Date: 19th August 2023

This is always one of our favourites and is normally very well attended with classic car owners from around the UK taking part. You can follow the organisers on their Facebook page here. You’ll meet quite a few interesting people and its something the whole family can enjoy.

Classic Car Show

  • Where: South Milford, Leeds
  • Date: 20th August 2023

Held at the Yorkshire Equestrian Centre, this is another great day out for classic car enthusiasts. There are some vintage roadsters and military vehicles on display. It’s free to come but you do need to register your vehicle beforehand. Find out more here.

Classic Grille Evening: Movie Cars

  • Where: National Motor Museum, Beaulieu
  • Date: 23rd August 2023

If you can get yourself out to Brockenhurst, for this Sunday's classic car fest you won’t be disappointed. The entry is free, but you do have to book so they can keep control of the numbers. The theme is cars that have been used in film and TV so you might see a panda car from the Z Cars series and even Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. You can find out more here.

Ripon Clubs & Classics Motor Show

  • Where: Ripon Races
  • Date: 27th August 2023

There seems to be something about classic cars and horses, this one is being held at Ripon Races on the August Bank Holiday. According to the organisers there will be “over 500 historic vehicles, including classic cars, Land Rovers, motorcycles, vans, kit cars, custom, modern classics, commercials, trucks, and ex-military vehicles.” Find out more here.

Why Go to a Classic Car Show

There are plenty of reasons to book your spot at one of these classic car events. They are usually lively affairs, and you meet plenty of interesting people who love to show off their vintage vehicles.

  • A great day out for all the family. If the weather’s good then you are going to have a really fun time.
  • Get in touch with a bit of history. With all the digital things that we live with today, it’s nice to step back in time and get a feel for what life used to be like.
  • A great introduction. If you’re thinking of buying or restoring a classic car yourself, a show or event like the ones above is a great starting point. It’s not just something that can boost your enthusiasm, but you’ll get a lot of good advice too.

At White’s Bodyworks, we’re always on the lookout for new events. We’ll certainly be calling in at the Brighton Run this year and marvelling at all the wonderful cars that have been lovingly restored. We’re one of the leading classic car garages in the UK today. With 20 years of experience behind us and a great reputation, we still have a boundless passion for vintage vehicles and motorbikes.
